Something to think about
So I did a quote back in 2023
The customer said my price was higher than multiple other quotes they got.
I wished them the best of luck with their new contractor and moved onto my next quote.
Fast forward to April 2024
I get a message from the client asking me if I can repair the work done in the bathroom.
Upon looking at it, The only way to fix it is to gut it and start again.
Now a job that originally would have cost $18,000 - Is pushing more towards $40,000.
-Remember, Although it's nice to save money - The lowest quote is not always the best route.
-If there's variation in the prices you receive - Ask questions so that you fully understand why.
90% of the time, The price that was much lower will either reflect it in the final product, Cost you $ in repairs and damage, Not be completed at all, Or come with a huge bill at the end because of inexperience.
When I do an estimate:
-I break down all of my quotes so that you fully understand what goes into the price you are given.(Materials, Labor)
-I never give a price on the spot - I put time into every estimate I do so that I can Map out all potential scenarios and potential problems that would add additional cost.
Remeber:
It's always more expensive to fix a contractors bad work than it is to do it right in the first place.
